Long Beach Public Schools has once again been named one of the Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation, marking the district’s 15th consecutive year receiving this national honor.

The designation celebrates the district’s exceptional commitment to music education and its ongoing efforts to provide all students with access to high-quality music programs. It reflects the collaboration and dedication of Long Beach’s music educators, students, families, and school leaders in fostering a strong culture of music and arts within the schools.

More than 1,600 students across the district participate in 36 ensembles, including bands, orchestras, and choirs. At Long Beach High School, students can further their musical education through offerings such as guitar classes, IB Music, and membership in the Tri-M Music Honor Society.

The Best Communities for Music Education award is given to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students. It aligns with the goals of the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), which recognizes music and the arts as key components of a well-rounded education.

The NAMM Foundation is a nonprofit supported in part by the National Association of Music Merchants. Its mission is to advance participation in music-making across all ages through research, philanthropy, and advocacy.
