Long Beach School District recently collected gently worn fall and winter clothes as part of a one-day Beach Boutique event that took place in the gymnasium of the Long Beach Middle School.

The concept of Beach Boutique was created through the efforts of a subcommittee of the District-wide Equity Committee to assist Long Beach students and family members in need of a clothing resource. Beach Boutique invited members of the school community to give what you can and take what you need. Long Beach staff members and students volunteered their time to oversee the efforts of the recent Beach Boutique.

Moving forward, the hope is to host annual fall and spring Beach Boutique events for Long Beach students in need. Any clothing items not distributed through the effort will be donated to school social workers and local nonprofit organizations.

The next Beach Boutique event will take place on Nov. 18 from 9 am to 2 pm at the West End Community Center located at 79 Maryland Ave in Long Beach.
