Lindell Elementary School
Principal's Message
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! For the last four years, serving as the assistant principal, I have had the honor and privilege of working with the Lindell families. And now, I am energized and passionate about being the new principal at Lindell. The Lindell community is a very special place. We think with love and logic. We connect with heartstrings. We keep learning at the forefront academically, socially, and emotionally. We treat students as individuals by valuing uniqueness while simultaneously creating unity. We want children running into the building with smiles and an eagerness to learn!
Serving the Lindell family in a new capacity, brings me so much joy and gratitude. I have worked in Long Beach since 2007 and continue to learn and grow each day. I look forward to continuing many Lindell traditions and programs, while working together with teachers, staff, parents, and students to create new, exciting learning opportunities as well.
The Lindell community welcomes our new assistant principal, Ms. Anna McGovern. Previously, Ms. McGovern was an elementary special education teacher and an assistant principal in District 75 in the New York City Department of Education. Most recently, she held the position of early childhood director in the Oceanside School District. She looks forward to building relationships with the Lindell students and families in order to help all students be their best selves to reach their maximum potential!
As a team, we work to create and provide students the opportunity to participate in a broad academic program from kindergarten to 5th grade. We want students to feel they are special and valued because of their unique abilities, thoughts, and ideas! Our teachers and staff are skilled, devoted instructional leaders who promote student achievement and academic excellence. Students utilize strategies to enhance their higher level and critical thinking skills and learn through inquiry and constructivist interdisciplinary explorations with technology incorporated into all curriculum areas.
Play is an important part of your child’s day too! Whether it’s purposeful play in the classroom or unstructured, energetic play on our new playground, your child will be socializing and learning new skills physically, socially, and emotionally.
Our PTA is a very active organization supportive of all that we do. They plan and implement special assemblies and school events that motivate and engage our students! We encourage you to join, attend meetings, activities, and volunteer to support our PTA.
Although COVID forced many demands and safety regulations to occur last year, there were many positive outcomes for education. I am appreciative of that. Our teachers worked diligently throughout the pandemic to reach families and create productive, learning opportunities. Parents/Guardians worked diligently on the homefront to connect to classrooms and motivate learners. New technologies were used! New learning platforms were discovered! We connected with families beyond the classroom!
How do we reflect on these new endeavors, and our past practices, to move forward together creating the most exciting time in education for our children? In an effort to transition our Lindell family into a new school year, full of endless possibilities, we need to continue to work together to collect ideas and reflect. Together, I would like to make plans for our learning community. We are entering a new era of education!
We will have many opportunities this year to meet together celebrating your child's work, planning activities, and discussing new happenings. If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas, please feel free to reach out! At Lindell, we are all here to support your child and your family.
All my best,
Dr. Pullara
