LB Students Recognized at Streets Art SAFE Competition

Congratulations to the LBHS TV Studio/Film Production students on earning multiple national awards as part of this year’s Streets Art SAFE Competition that was held in Los Angeles, California. The event featured participants from 63 schools across New York, Arizona, and California, with 796 students submitting 414 entries.

Long Beach High School students were recognized in the Road Safety PSA category with the following honors:

* Don’t Let It Be You – Sarah Martinez
Advanced to the Second Round of Voting

* Don’t Drug and Drive – Ayden Farish, Matthew Diamond
Advanced to the Second Round of Voting

* Helmet Safety – Cathy Maguire
Advanced to the Second Round of Voting

* Drinking and Driving – Kacey Brymer
3rd Place Bronze Award Trophy – Impaired Driving Awareness
1st Place Gold Award Trophy – Best Film PSA (New York State)
Special Awareness Award

* Tired Driving – Pete Senetto, Gianna Khokhar-Aphayavong, Brooklyn Quigley
Strength of Tagline/Messaging Trophy

* The Cost of Racing: No Second Chances – Jacqueline Dernbach, Dante Roberts, Ethan Gelson

* 2nd Place Silver Award Trophy – Street Racing Kills

* Impaired Driving Awareness – Long Beach High School

* Special Award for Impaired Driving Awareness

In addition to their national recognition, LBHS students also earned top honors at the New York State level:
 
* Best PSA (Gold): Drinking and Driving – Lead Student: Kacey Brymer
* Best PSA (Silver): The Cost of Racing: No Second Chances – Lead Student: Jacqueline Dernbach
* Best PSA (Bronze): Tired Driving – Lead Student: Peter Senetto
* Best Strength of Tagline: Tired Driving – Lead Student: Peter Senetto
* Best Cinematography: Drinking and Driving – Lead Student: Kacey Brymer
* Best Cycling or Skating Safety PSA: Helmet Safety – Lead Student: Cathy Maguire
* Street Racing Kills Award: The Cost of Racing: No Second Chances – Lead Student: Jacqueline Dernbach

These outstanding achievements reflect the creativity, technical skill, and commitment of LBHS students to promoting critical safety messages through film.
